How are Don Bosco's services funded?
TUSLA (Child
and Family Agency) cover our staff costs. Since 2009 our funding was
cut by 20%, with no decrease in services provided. Grant making
organisations and private donors help fund the deficit and enable us to
continue working with vulnerable young people.

Does
Don Bosco have to turn anyone away due to lack of funding /Are young
people referred to /Don Bosco or can they refer themselves?
The
young people in our care are referred to us by TUSLA (Child and family
agency) and they fund us based on our bed numbers, we only accept people
based on referrals.
Is it just boys, or both boys and girls, that the service helps?
Altogether
we have a total of 50 young people in our outreach programme, 20 of
whom are girls, we also work with many young couple who themselves have
children.

Details on the bicentenary celebration plans
To
mark the 200th anniversary of the Birth of St Don Bosco the Salesain
Order in Ireland will be organising local and national events. The
Salesians in Ireland and throughout world will be having a year of
celebrations from August 16th 2014 to August 16th 2015. This year long
celebration will also take in St Don Bosco feast day on the 31st of
January which is celebrated each year. The year long celebrations
started on the 16th of August this year, as that was St Don Bosco’s
birthday. Marking the birth of their founder St Don Bosco the Salesian
Order will hosting a number of number of events nationally. One such
event is the Camino Bosco Walk to Kerry for anyone who is 18-35 and
reasonably fit. The walk will take place from the 11th -12th April 2015.

Rourke at sarah.orourke@ul.ie . The Don Bosco Care will also be marking
the bi- Centenary with a half day staff training session that wil centre
on the spiritual dimension of Don Bosco’s approach.
