Tullow Macra Na Ferime Club of the Year PRO Report 2012-13



Tullow Macra Na Feirme was founded in 1946 by a group of farmers from Tullow and has expanded over the decades into one of the largest clubs in the country. Tullow is also the second oldest club in the country. The Macra Na Feirme club in Tullow is a very active and every Friday night we play sports in the community school hall and usually go for a social outing afterwards. This year saw Tullow Macra play an active role in Carlow securing the 2013 rally.

County Titles
Carlow Macra Na Feirme Know your Agriculture Quiz Champions 2012
This year Tullow Macra won the county round of the Know your Agriculture Quiz and competed in the national final held over the 2012 rally weekend in Waterford. We were fortunate enough to have come fourth.
Impromptu Debating
This year’s County round was held in the Hunters rest Pub Fenagh and we were fortunate enough to come first in this year’s competition.

Impromptu Public Speaking
The club this year was very fortunate to have put forward two competitors for this year’s county round, one of whom went on to the regional final held in Tullamore

Debating
A strong team travelled from Tullow to St Mullins for this year County round, and were lucky enough to come away with first place after a very tough debate!!!!!
Girls Basketball
Unfortunately the boys were unsuccessful in this years county round but, the girls flew the flag for Tullow Macra in the national finals held in Limerick.

Mr Personality
This year one of our own Oren Byrne was selected to represent Carlow Macra Na Feirme in this years Mr personality competition in Killkenny.




Sports
Every Friday night we play sports in the Tullow Community School hall.

Capers
This year Tullow not only took part in the capers competition we were also fortunate enough to host this year’s semi-final.

July
·         Held AGM in the Hogan Stand Pub Tullow
·         Officers elected and re-elected disussed club progression for the year ahead

August
·         Disappointment with the cancelation of the Tullow Show due to the bad weather
·         The club played important role in winning the bid for the 2013 rally, this made up for the show being cancelled.

September
·         September is when things start to get busy again in Macra Circles
·         Sports starting up again
·         Waterford Rally and who is travelling down discussed

October
·         Know your agriculture Quiz Held in Fenagh
·         Impromtu public speaking held in same venue
·         Large delegation from the club travelled down to the Waterford Rally to promote the 2013 Carlow Rally
·         Came fourth in the national finals of the Know your Agriculture quiz held over rally weekend

November
·         November is a quiet Month for Macra
·         Sports on a Friday night is well under way
·         Plans for Christmas party discussed

December
·         Great night had by all especially the newer members of the club at the Christmas party
·         Had a number of dress rehearsals for capers
·         Took a break for the Christmas period

January
·         Despite the winter season Tullow Macra was very active during this month
·         Tullow not only hosted the capers semi-final in the F.R Murphy hall, we also entered a team
·         It was quite a spectacle!
  • A number of people from the club also helped out on the night

February
·         Club raised funds for Pieta House by bag packing for the day in Tesco
·         We held a UV party in store crablane
·         This event not only acted as fundraiser for the club but as new members night
·         Enjoyable night had by all
March
·         Took part in both Vollyball and Basketball girls and boys competition
·         Both competitions held in Tullow
·         Girls team won basketball
