Speech delivered on the subject of Mental Health reform

Motion Submitted By Carlow Ogra Fianna Fail to the 2014 Ogra Fianna Fail NYC
Motion Read In light of the complete lack of direction on this issue from government this National Youth Conference mandates the Policy and Campaigns Director of Ogra Fianna Fail to devise a comprehensive  Youth Mental Health Policy and following this, to lobby the senior party and government to implement the documents proposals. This conference also mandates the C.O.B to work in partnership with organisations who operate in this area (such as Aware, Pieta house) to provide a training seminar on how to recognise the danger signs of suicide and help prevent it.

As a person who comes from a rural background, I am all too aware of the effects suicide has on a family and the wider community. This is one of the few issues that effects rural and urban Ireland. Isolation is something that can happen in either rural or urban Ireland. I ask you delegates to say yes to mandate the new policy and campaigns officer to devise a policy for this area. Say yes to mandate the C.O.B to work in partnership with organisations such as Pieta House.
Delegates I ask you to say yes to this motion.
